Tip of the Day: Leaps in LearningLeaps in learning through my career, always came from working through great frustrating moments. Frustration is just your brain working hard to understand and improve on something difficult to learn. Gotta keep going!

Tip of the Day: ConversationToday try to make conversation with at least one person that you don't know. No matter how short the conversation might be.
More opportunities come if you make a habit of striking up conversations with people you don't know.
You wouldn't believe some of the people I've been able to get to know just because I decided to talk to them.

Recommend an artist to watchThere's not enough awesomeness in my deviation inbox lately! :lol:
And Deviantart is so huge that I rarely find a beautiful gem of an artwork among all the glittery ponies, crotch shots, anime screenshots, blurry photos, boobs, and flower and kitten snapshots. Nothing against all that, really. But I would like to see more of specifically this kind of work -

Tip of the Day: Playing the Game of LifeI used to spend all my free time on games. Arcade games, card games, home entertainment systems... etc. Until I found the best game of all - LIFE. Not the board game but the real thing.
You only get one life and there are many levels that you can pass. Try to think of life as a game. Always trying to get to that "next level." Identify what you could achieve to get to the "next level" in your life and put your energy into it!

Tip of the Day: Getting your foot in the door*Take note that this advice is meant for people that are completely unknown beginners that have no options and are looking to learn***
Comic legend Lynn Johnston (creator of "For Better or For Worse" gave me today's tip of the day. She wrote to me with some advice after listening to my audiobook "The Perfect Bait"
"I wondered if there should be a portion dedicated to people- students etc who are completely unknown, who just want to get a foot in the door.
Working for free is the answer. You might balk at this because some critics say this gives the appearance that there is NO value to skill and talent. However- consider this: Working for free gives you amazing experience. It allows you to practice on someone else's project, see your work in print, establish a reputation and learn- big time. People who won't work for free WILL pay for a course! What better learning experience is there than to work with a client- such as a library or an independent book store or a school- producing poste
Tip of the Day: CuriosityKeep learning. Stay curious. Always give it your all and great things will happen. Make it part of your lifestyle to constantly keep learning, studying, practicing. The world is changing faster then ever. It's important to change with it if you don't want to be left behind. Be a 'student' of life and stay curious.

so when i saw this on my updates . I saw the words masters and ken . and immediately thought street fighter and them immediately thought omfg bobby is interviewing someone name ken masters . but this is equally as cool too

That was a FANTASTIC interview. I am a big fan of Ken Ralston's work, so to hear stories about his creative process and how he deals with the film industry is a great joy. He has been doing visual effects for movies since the very beginning of the Special FX boom (when Star Wars came out), and getting to hear his thoughts of the Computer Age of VFX is very interesting.

Thanks for asking questions that were not your typical magazine fare too. You could tell he was impressed by a couple of the questions, as he really had to think about the answer and was happy to be thrown into thinking before answering them. The Tex Avery connection was awesome to learn about. I know in Hollywood it's really a close-knit community, but to have cross pollination like that, that's cool!

Now I can't wait for Men in Black 3. I am really looking forward to seeing more of your creature design and his teams execution. :)
