Tip of the Day

Journal Entry: Wed Sep 28, 2011, 6:17 AM
A pleasing personality is more important then you think.
Put in the effort to be in a good mood and people will be more likely to enjoy your company and want to work with you more often.

If I had to choose between hiring a person with a skill level of 10/10 but didn't have a pleasing personality or a person with a skill level of 7/10 but is pleasant to work with, personally I would always choose the pleasant person that is a 7/10 because I know I can train them to become a 10/10.

Sending you all positive vibes!

Bobby

I liked this journal so much that I shared it on Facebook. Though I feel everyone is entitled to bad days, everyone should put an effort into being a happier person. Not only for others but for themselves. There are too many people who take their bad day out on others with no regret or are just unfriendly, and try to justify it. The world would be such a better place if people took the time to smile or give a compliment...

Agreed. Personality is something that can seal the deal. The thing that many people overlook when applying themselves is, funny enough, themselves. They focus on the skills instead of the person behind them. When you sell your art, designs, music - anything, you are really marketing yourself, so the better you are at optimizing your attitude and how you approach the world and your life, the better your chances of gathering a strong network and business. And, more importantly, friends :)

This is absolutely true. I thought I was doing everything right when applying to jobs, but people wouldn't even give me the time of day. I wasn't making enough eye contact, wasn't smiling, and I couldn't carry a conversation to save my life. I've been reading books and articles about how to properly socialize, and it's improved my over-all social status as well as my success with employers!
