Tip of the Day: Dealing with StressStress is the root for many health problems. It's not necessary. Just do what you need to do. Stop stressing.
In high pressure situations if I start stressing I will think what is the worst that could happen and how could I bounce back from that. Once I see that I would still be ok and be able to come back from that difficulty... then the stress disappears. Then I start imagining what would it feel like to be successful and that gets me excited to continue towards my goals.
Stress is something that everyone deals with in their own ways but if you don't have an effective way to deal with it, feel free to try my method.

Tip of the Day: Measuring SuccessI don't consider my work a success by how much the movie made in the theaters or if it won any Oscars. Success to me is measured by the amount of effort I put into the project.
You can't always control the outcome but you can control the amount of effort you give. Don't worry about things beyond your control.

Tip for Today: When to give up?Never give up just because you don't think you're good enough. We've all had our doubts in life. Successful people do not give up easily. We must prepare and prepare again, try your very hardest and then about 50% more that you didn't know you had consistently, then keep going twice as long as you ever thought you would or could. Look for more knowledge and try again.

Tip of the Day: Understanding what you're doing.Always strive to understand more and more about what you are doing. I tend not to paint anything I don't understand or know how it's supposed to feel.
If you paint or draw something that you don't understand, anyone that does understand will know right away that you didn't.

Tip of the Week: VisualizingWhen you visualize the task before you do it, it makes it that much easier to accomplish and accomplished better. Especially for drawing and painting. Before I work on a film, I take about 10 or 20 minutes staring at something dark or close my eyes to try and visualize the movie before I start painting.
I believe that visualizing is the hardest and most powerful way to think. With conscious and persistent practice you can improve your ability to visualize.

Tip of the Day: Doubters and Haters

Before you start off your career (or perhaps you just started your career) there tends to be more doubters and haters around you.

Most doubters and haters lurk at the bottom because they're too fearful or ignorant to try.

Sometimes many of our biggest doubters aren't bottom lurkers but our relatives or friends. Most of the time they mean well but they are not YOU. They don't know what you are capable of.

For many people, you are your worst hater and doubter. The only way you can find what you're capable of is by trying your absolute hardest. True failure comes from not trying!

So true... I'm never gonna get this... I'm too old to learn this... It's never going to work... It's not good enough... Why even bother to try... You just have to push trough and keep drawing and learning. Taking those babysteps and getting better.

This also happens in my life when I first try step to the art especially within my local friends. They felt pity on me like my art isn't good at all to make a career of art. I tell them is just part of my hobby. But now I feel I don't need to hide it anymore

My ol' mum still tells me to get a real job. I'm 30 years old, been a (successful) freelance illustrator for 8 years and live miles away with my missus but to her I'm still a 15 year old dosser.

Just the other day I was told 'You'll never make a living at this'. Right after that, I have had ALOT of interest in my work and have made more sales than I ever have. Phooey to doubters!!! Maybe my fairy godmother heard this and sprinkled fairy dust on me! LOL.
