Tip of the Day: the Struggle

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 26, 2012, 9:14 AM
Learn to enjoy the struggle. Our most memorable goals we achieve in our lives are always extra special because of the many hardships we had to endure before succeeding. Those memories will be some of your fondest when you're successful. So take sometime to live in the moment and enjoy the struggle before achieving bigger and better things.

Sending positive vibes to you all!
Bobby

Considering how much I am struggling with this online class I'm in, I can use some of what you wrote as encouragement. Thank you for writing this.

I don't know if I can enjoy this. But I use it positively, as fuel. In the future I'm going to appreciate this time for sure.

It gets me pumped. And honestly, I never want it easy. Then I would stop busting this much ass.

totally true, I just started a portrait and realism honestly is not my forte lol, i usually make illustrations and abstract works so its difficult.. but i think im learning a lot in the process, hopefully what i learn will carry over to other projects in the future :D

Quote from some author whose name I can't remember that I like:

"I don't enjoy writing. I enjoy having written."

I don't think there's anything wrong with acknowledging that the struggle sucks. The important thing is to stay focused on the goal itself, that sucking is the only way things will get better, and that it will not always suck - and this applies to almost anything that's difficult but pays off in the end, e.g. writing, painting, exercising, child-rearing, mountain-climbing, martial arts, whatever. The most important thing is to Just Do It, as a certain company says.

There is something to be said about the sense of achievement in the success that one gains through the toils of trial and error.

I always feel so good after working on a piece for several hours and see how it's getting good.
Just the other day I was working on something for school - just one pic - almost 10 hours in a row. There sure was some struggling, because I didn't know if the mediums would respond well to another. In the end I was tired and happy. =w=
