Working on concept art in films, it's all about great ideas and feeling.
Learn all the technical rules about the fundamentals of how we see all the different aspects of life and learn to paint with your mind.
After that, learn to paint with your heart, not the mind. How does the painting "feel" instead of picking apart tiny insignificant details on a boring feeling piece.
Positive vibes to everyone!

I have seen some artists that are superb at rendering
But god their art is boring!!!
BTW you said the other day that you wanted to do something viral this year, I may be mistaken since I started watching you just this year but, are this "tips" it? I certainlly hope that the good vibes are getting viral
I was at a lecture at Gnomon school last week where people from Disney were talking about how they created their last movie "Tangled" and they told us when Glen Kean did paint overs over their 3D screen shots in the early production and showed them how to correct things and how to make the characters "Feel" a certain way the younger animators took it back to their 3D program and it didn't quite work out as good as Glenn drew it why? because they were trying to trace line by line, instead they were told see how the lines feel, take the feeling of it and interpret into your own model.
So just like you said it's all about the feeling, and TONNSSS of practice
