Sense of Fairness. I know it might seem a little funny to talk about fairness as being a thing that is necessary to have to be an artist but this is pretty much applicable for everyone that has to have any kind of communication with people.

Some people just try to get as much as they can even if they might not think it's fair to all parties. That kind of practice doesn't promote returning clients or customers. Do what you think is more than fair to all parties and concentrate on building relationships as oppose to trying to get as much benefit as you can. So the next time you are creating a plan or quoting others, start off by thinking about how all parties will benefit, not just you. Long relationships last because they are based on plans that effect everyone in a positive way.

Sending positive vibes to everyone!
Bobby

The world would be a better place if we all took this advice! Great post....

Business, in general, is filled with people trying to take advantage of others. It's counter productive to our society...globally AND locally.

I can't agree with this more! This also applies to how we interact with the art community as a whole, not just clients I think. I have seen other artists trying to steal clients and business from their peers, and that just doesn't make sense. Other artists are your greatest resource and friends in this business, why would anyone do something to hurt the other? Competition is a given, but there is a way to do it without undercutting or stealing from your fellows. In the end, you only hurt yourself by doing this.

Well said. So many people don't believe it, but it's true! And thank you Bobby for another great insight!

Exactly, that is something not everybody takes into account when planning. Fairness is the name of the game. But you also have to be careful of those who try to take advantage of your fairness.

VETO! I support the benefit performance for our sister city Fukushima with my creativity and our major has stolen my TV interview today. He never lifts a finger, he staged last minute that he hands out donation boxes to local shops. Nobody will belive it, but the reporter shot it anyway. In the time slot when my interview (Haha, not more than 30 seconds in the report) was planned. Karma sucks!

Amen to that!! All our rioting youths here in the UK could learn a thing or two from this mindset. Sadly they have not been brought up to care about themselves, let alone anyone else.
